this is my longtime friend kelly...i'm attending her wedding as a guest (yay!!!) and they hired an amazing photographer, but I was secretly thrilled when they wanted me to actually do their e-session. they're my favorite things to shoot anyway!

see, some of these I wouldn't keep if they were mine..
BUT when I look at them from someone else, I love them.

I really really like the style and couple was into it! Grand job, I say.

Effing killer work! Too many for me to go into detail on all of them, but here's a few thoughts for improvement:

    2. Great connection between the couple. I love that you caught them without kissing.
    4. Kill the tilt - actually, it's probably because you're shooting wide and not straight on at them....
    5. Doesn't work for me because her eyes are closed. I need a connection between them
    6. Not liking the pose with heads stacked
    7. I think this might look better with just the lines of the steps and to decenter the couple.
8 & 9. Tough to do, but I would like to see the couple with the sky behind them - it would make them pop a lot more.
    11. Kicks! I would crop the bottom of the frame just below the grooms left hand in pocket and go panoramic. I love the light and lines that you captured on this set!

    i'd trash 2, 5 and 7. primarily for blown-ess.
11 and 12 i'd crop tighter to get rid of the wall..

but again, If I was to do that, the whole energy of the images would dissapear..

gotcha...most of the hotness/contrast is added in post...guilty as charged!

I think I've seen too many client prints look dark when they print at non-professional photo processors, so I do tend to err on the brighter side.

Thanks Patrick, big fan of your work so I appreciate your input. Agreed on 5 &6...oddball shots really...I liked their expressions! Love your suggestion on 7. 8&9--we were on the 8th floor rooftop as it was, but I sure see where you are going with the suggestion. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Thanks! I love rooftop shooting - the sky and buildings here look great! The way to do #8&9 to get the effect I suggested is to get closer to them, get down low and probably use a wide lens. I normally think its better to keep people in front of a clean background if possible. Just an idea.

Fair enough, I was not equipped with an UWA yesterday, which is why we moved to the side of the roof for 11-14....foot zoom approach to the problem, if you will! :D
