First captures of these two insects this year. A hoverfly Helophilus pendulus and a solitary digger wasp (the caterpillar hunting types).

    Not amazingly warm - around 15'C in full sun but both these were fairly skittish esp the wasp.

    You're using those terrifying Centigrade numbers. I was in Montreal earlier this year for a couple weeks (I'm from Los Angeles) and everything was close to about 1C. And people there were so blase about it.

    I'm spoiled. I love my Southern California weather. I've lived where it snows. Never again.
