extending Tamrac camera strap

Does anyone know of a way to extend the Tamrac camera strap?

I currently have the Tamrac Boomerang N-5057 and want to make it longer so I can sling my camera to the side. Kind of hanging it from the should across my chest. If I can do this, I won't need to buy into the CameraSlinger or Black Rapid system.

Are you saying you don't have enough physical material to make the strap longer? As in the strap is at its longest setting and it's still too short to hang off the side?

I want to make the strap long enough for me to hang the camera to my side instead of in front of me. Instead of over the head and around the neck, use it so that the strap goes over my head to the opposite side shoulder.

Do yourself a favor and buy a Black Rapid strap. That's what they're made to do.

I am seeing if there is a less expensive way and use what I already have.

The safest way to go is with a longer strap. Extending an existing strap would involve adding strap segments and clips/buckles, resulting in less integrity and more to fail.

An OP/TECH "Utility Strap" is probably what you want. It has a curved pad designed to hang across the wearer's body without cutting into the neck. It extends to 53" and the 3/8" webbing ends should fit your camera.

Look into a strap quick connect system, its adds a few inches onto the strap length and can be used with any strap. I'm using one with my Smug Strap that I had originally for my Minolta X700, lets see 30 years. I also use a Nikon hand grip, so the strap is on the left side of the camera, this makes the camera lay nicely against your hip when carried over your shoulder.
