Using the license plate as a clue, my guess would be a '35 Auburn Cord Boattail Speedster.

An early version of the Batmobile?

    Nice catch, Don!

I looks a lot like a replica kit made by Speedster Motorcar Sales in Largo, FL.

The rest of the series. Shot under very unforgiving circumstances of light and location!

"Phantom", no, since that's a term denoting a car that was built to look like one that was never manufacured.

"Authentic", not a chance for a number of reasons:

Locking gas door; all photos I've seen show a twist-off cap between the right fender and boat tail, just toward of the tail light. Back in '35, no one cared about locking the gas cap and certainly not behind a door: that started in the '70s.

Side pipes on this one are going every which way but straight. The pipes on an authentic one would run very close to parallel.

Licence plate should be mounted above the left tail light.

No one in their right mind would park an authentic one in a lot like this one. eek7.gif

Nice shots, though, Don. Well done, considering the circumstances. thumb.gif

See, I told you guys it was really the Batmobile . . .

I'm not a car buff, but I love to shoot them, so all of this is interesting to me. Thanks for all the great info!
