This is one of those "spur of the moment, no eye on the viewfinder and who knows what the settings were" kind of shot. But I like it just the same....

So many amazing pics here, but I thought for fun and variety I'd add a photo I recently took of our office dog Kaufman :D :

Kristen, in "my eyes :D" this is absolutely awesome. And I am usually not very enticed by the myriads of wide-eyed kids' portraits out there. But you captured something special here, kudos and congrats!

What the heck, if I'm going to join in these mini-challenges, I've got to start somewhere! Since I had some material on hand for this new topic, this seemed as good as any time to jump in.

Below are a couple of images that were extracted from some head shots I recently took of young actors. I thought both of these actors had great eyes. You can tell that in the first one (green eyes), the subject was smiling more broadly. In the second one (blue eyes), the hair on the right, to my eye, added something to the composition.

I could poke plenty of holes in these images, but would be interested in seeing if others notice the same things that I do -- or a completely different set of critiques ;-).
    Canon EOS 7D ........ 24-105 f/4L | 50 f/1.4 | 70-200 f/2.8L IS + 1.4x II TC ........ 580EX
Supported by: Benro C-298 Flexpod tripod, MC96 monopod, Induro PHQ1 head
Also play with: studio strobes, umbrellas, softboxes, ...and a partridge in a pear tree...

    Quick and probably dumb question.

Does the Mini challenges have 'Within the date" rule like the DSS Challenges do?

I am likely not looking in the right place.

    Wow! So many great shots.

I'll have my first go at one of these challenges but I can't compete with what I see here. Aside from my Avatar (my grandson, BTW) I'll add these:

Blackbuck, Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, Glen Rose, TX

    271541788_UR2cW-L-3.jpg

I dont usually like these, but this is cool
    695048921_PgRhj-L.jpg

This is cool, your others seem a bit dark in feeling, but I did say show emotion:D
    564786403_nW7UY-L-1.jpg

    great expression!
    879335699_ban7Q-L.jpg

Nice! great dof, not easy with kidsthumb.gif
    878521527_8SZWA-L.jpg

This is cool, you should ditch the purple glint in the right eye it really draws the eye.
    637886342_jV3jY-L.jpg

Wide angle dog shots are cool, I like this.
    880314828_37TS4-L.jpg

I really want a proper macro set up.
    880748263_m6FJM-L.jpg

A couple things I notice about these images: there both a little soft, colors are a bit unnatural, and they are slightly noisy.
    attachment.php?attachmentid=30529&stc=1&d=1275368428

Dave really like your wildlife shots, bout all you could find up here in Maine was a squirrel if I remember rightrolleyes1.gif I remember Gumby, had one as a kid!
    47495607_gULX9-XL.jpg

Bambi! I like the spiral stair case as well but its a few stops underexposed and too contrasty for me(I have 3 and 5 year old girls so I see this scene a lotmwink.gif)
    554665055_z2As8-L.jpg

Love this comp! Victoria looks great as well nice idea!
