Took these while camping a couple of weekends ago. South Fork of the American River Coloma CA at the Troublemaker or Gunsight Rapid. Quite a few rafters got to go for a swim. River was running well from all the rains and snow melt. Nikon D300 Nikon 200mm f2 with TC-20E III teleconverter

First series they lose their driver. The guy in the cowboy hat.

I also like the last one the best, followed by #5. I went whitewater rafting for the first time ever with my son's scout troop this past weekend up in Maine (what a blast!!!) on the Kennebec River & NO I did not risk my camera. Most outfitters have photographers & videographers working for them who paddle ahead and take pictures of the rafts coming thru the bigger rapids. I'm amazed in the first few pictures that the paddlers don't have on helmets??

Jeeze what glare on the water. You lost all detail of the white water. #5 got some saved.

Seems to me an excellent time for a CP

    Looks like fun

Yes I think the ones with out helmets are private parties. I dont think any of the outfitters would risk taking anyone out with out helmets. I saw one raft get into a big rock and dumped all but one person. Resulting in one broken nose and another broken finger. Also many cold rides down the river to the more placid water. Thank you for the comments. I have alot more close ups but was trying to give the feeling of the size of the rapids. This one is considered class 3+ a big S curve.

You actually saved a decent amount of detail in the water considering the harsh lighting. Great shots.
