Dirtnapper

On the way into Boston last night, noticed a potential sunset coming on. I stopped at the pumping station on Spot Pond, Stoneham to get these. BTW, don't put your toes in this crystal clear water..in front of me coming up was a huge snapping turtle, about 2 feet long.

Killer snapping turtles!! What a great hiding place for it, since you'd never expect something vicious to jump out of this peaceful environment. Nice sunset!

Thanks Schmoo. This place is great considering it is in the Boston Metro area with highways around it! Lot of wildlife and hiking trails about it. Not to highjack my own thread, but take a look at a couple of pics I got earlier of two snappers here, these things are huge:
