How to Confirm Use of Nickname

I'm trying to change my nickname and both of my attempts led to "someone is already using that nickname" error messages. The nicknames I tried were: simsmugs and thesimsmugs. Are you serious? Both are already taken? It's not completely unique, but really - both are taken? Any way I can get confirmation?

Maybe they don't allow you to pick names with "smug" in it?

Eh? I would think it naturally makes sense that some Smugmug portfolios would contain "smug"?

I don't know, I'd suggest asking the helpdesk.

Add the new nickname you're trying to use in the browser and see if a
Smugmug web page comes up using it. If it's available you'll get Smugmug's
homepage. (looks like neither of those work though)

You can't use the word SMUG, smugmug, or anything like that, in your nickname.
