Here are a few shots from our trip to Antarctica in January. The sights in person are stunning to say the least, it is very hard to represent such beauty with a camera but here is my effort.

#2 I was on the 10 floor of our ship when I took this, Just to give you an idea of scale, this berg was about 150 ft tall and the rule of thumb is 9/10 of its size in underwater or about 1100 ft deep.

#5 This was a shot with my telephoto on a section of the #4 image.

The classic problem with shooting in Antarctica is the flat light (i.e. #2). You did a good job of getting more moody light in #3.

Doug, thanks for sharing these shots. Thanks for the commentary about the size of those first couple of shots - otherwise it would be hard to understand how big they really are.

Like the others above have said, I really like 4 & 5.

My favorite is the last one, I also like the first one but there's some slight vignetting on it. What a beautiful place.

You're right Ron on the vignetting, I actually added it hoping to make the image somewhat more moody.

Wonderful pics. My daughter is a USAF LC-130 pilot and spends several months there every year. I would love to see those sites in person.
