Getting the right thumbnail or a shared link

I'm trying to use the share a link function in my site... I want to post a link to a new photo I have just added...

I've tried the link to the photo, but the link only opens a separate window with the photo on it, which appears to me right-clickable, meaning it can be stolen easily..:huh

The embedded link is good, because it takes the viewer back to site, but I can't seem to get the proper thumbnail to appear when I post the link (facebook). I can select the right photo before I copy the code, but it ends up being a different one once it's posted as a link.:scratch

Any suggestions? I'd like to introduce new photos via Facebook and such with a link back to that specific photo within the site.....

    Hi Jesse,

    Thank you for contacting SmugMug.

I checked your site but, I couldn't find a gallery in the thumbnail style. If you're using SmugMug style and you'd like to link to a specific image while you're viewing that photo you can copy the URL out of the address bar as shown here: 884592260_4typQ-L.jpg

Or, if you have a gallery in thumbnails style you can click on the image to open in the lightbox. Then, URL out of the address bar as shown here: 884594304_8pffd-M.jpg

But, to share on Facebook why not do this the easy way and use the Be Social feature? If you're in the SmugMug viewing style select the photo you want to share and click Share > Be Social. Or if you're in Thumbnails style when you click Share > Be Social you'll be asked to choose an image to share, click on it!

Choose the social network you'd like to use, add a message if you'd like. If you want to change the image selected use the arrows below the thumbnail:

    884599722_mEo2i-M.jpg

And, we'll automatically create a Facebook post compete with a thumbnail and direct image link:

I hope this helps. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask, we are always happy to help.

I've tried this....the only PROBLEM is when I post the link....the thumbnail preview on the post is not the image I am trying to promote, although once the link is clicked it does open to the desired image....

    Hi Jesse,

The first option does randomly choose a thumbnail though you may have a couple options by clicking on the arrows that show up on Facebook. The second option can only post to your personal page. There is not currently a way to use this feature on fan pages. You can add your vote to the feature request for this on our UserVoice page here: http://smugmug.uservoice.com/forums/17723-smugmug/suggestions/332140-allow-be-social-capability-with-facebook-fan-pag?ref=title

I'm sorry that we don't have a different answer for you. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask, we are always happy to help.

I haven't been given the option to pick a different thumbnail in the facebook posts? I see the arrows, but it only displays one option?
