Once more into the fray. This unofficial feedback thread is a catch-all of sorts, lets make it happen
Anyway, let's start feedback on DSS #51!!
This thread is:
It's easy to post thumbnails (with help from our Moderator).
With the image selected in the gallery, copy its URL from your browser, add "-Th.jpg" to the end, delete the jumble of numbers and letters preceding the hashtag (#), change "gallery" to "photos" and that's it.
Example
Change this url
To this (minus the space in the IMG tags)

Anyway, let's start feedback on DSS #51!!
This thread is:
- a place to post a list of your top ten favorites. (be heard, and let everyone know what images moved you.)
- a place to post your "the making of my image"
- a place to ask someone "how did they do that?"(for us all to see )

In any case, bravi tutti - beautiful work!!!
My favorites, in no particular order (I'll post comments in the gallery if I get a chance):
Because commenting on all the images is lengthy. I'll start a new thread. I'll have it up later today.
Froch, please just comment on each of the images in the gallery. Once you have them all done you can post here saying they are now complete.
If you feel it must be done in a thread keep them here instead of starting a new thread.
Thanks.
I'm happy to post in the gallery because it will allow for better reference to the images. But my only thought was it doesn't allow for response or discussion on the gallery, in the event someone were to want to reply.
And this thread, is more of a Top10, etc.
Look for them in the Gallery.
As a judge this round, I was looking for a combination of excellent composition, moving subject material, and of course, great representation of the theme. For all the "blind judges" jokes out there, I found 10 that really did it for me, while others did not... not that they were bad photos, but some just didn't hit all three of the categories for me for some reason or another. I will say I'm not a huge fan of overdone HDR, though at least one of my picks I think is processed that way.
I do think the entire gallery was full of good ideas, and good attempts at a very tricky subject. I'm happy not to have felt compelled to compete this round, for my entry surely would have paled in comparison to most of the 10 I picked. I'll give feedback in the gallery later, on what turned me on and off to the entries.

Thanks for taking the time! It's hard work, I know. I benefited from more than one of your comments that sparked an 'oh yeah'....so know your efforts are appreciated. And I also feel that anyone that submits, deserves to have their work 'looked' at and commented on. Nice work!
Sean, thanks again for suggesting my comments go on the image rather than on a thread. It makes much more sense.

and I do believe its true.. that there are roads left in both of our shoes..
Here are my favorites from this round:

For an explanation on how I did it, there is not really too much to say.
As someone said, I just applied some filter to a dying flower.
this is the original image:
About one month ago I bought a plugin for Photoshop. It's very cool and it has a lot
of filters.
I combined some aging effects with a preset rust texture, which I also combined with
an scratch old film preset filter. I did all inside the respective plugin software, so I don't have every step to show.
Thank you Smithy for your observation - I did think to go back and fade a little the applied filter
on the flower itself, or even change the entry. However, the good comments I received from
people I trust, made me keep the entry the way it was.
Again thank you, and congratulations to the selected ones

For me, those listed were visually on theme (without a titled explanation) and were beautiful works of art. There were a few others, but those were my top 10.

I want to give a big thanks to Smithy and PaulFrocchi. I think they went above and beyond with their thoughtful, honest, and detailed feedback to EVERY image in the gallery. They set a new high bar for comments that I hope can be maintained. Thanks you two!
Cheers,
Mark
