OK, 39,000 shots through the 10D and now 15,000 or so through the 20D, with one trip's opportunity to shoot both of them at the same time.

The 20D wins in EVERY respect except that the 10D has a quieter shutter. Here's a summary of why I'd take the money and buy a 20D instead:

Most importantly, it makes CHEAPER LENSES ROCK.
Second, the exceptional low noise performance in low light/high ISO
For me, an action shooter, faster frame rate, faster writing to the card.

There are probably other reasons but those are the biggies. I shoot with L glass now but had a 24-85 and still have a 50mm 1.8 with which to make the comparisons. But my expensive lenses on each body--no contest, I'd like to sell my 10D and get another 20D as a backup body/to keep the short lens mounted when shooting with both.

My ONLY complaint about the 20D is the shutter noise. It is significantly louder than the 10D - and the 20D has a much smaller mirror than the 10D.

This is the conclusion I've come to for myself as well. I have 3 primes on my wish list and only 1 zommheadscratch.gif

I think most start with a zoom because it provides the most flexibility
during the learning process but gravitate towards primes as they 'find'
    their style and preferences.

I'm not sure I understand the stigma in a zoom myself. My 16-35 and
24-70 are two that I shoot with frequently. I have primes too. But
when I am traveling on the motorcycle, the 24-70 and 70-200 are a
great combination when space is limited.

I'm very happy with my Sigma 70-200 f2.8. Quite a bargain really. thumb.gif
The only thing Sigma needs to do now is make an OS version.
    I'm actually considering the 85mm 1.8 myself. I was dissapointed to see that macro was 2.5, not 1.5. I would love a 50mm f1.5 macro mwink.gif
