I'd like to know if anyone can give me a preference on UTENSIL with each letter made from the same utensil....OR.... UTENSIL made from different utensils.

I will reshoot these to get crisper images and more consistent lighting, but am just working on my rough draft right now.

Thanks for the feedback.

Chris

UPDATE: There's an updated image further down in this thread.

Chris, great idea...I love these! I like #2 better with the different utensils.

I agree. The lighting is better in #2, and the variety adds to the interest!

Cool! #2 is great. Love the choice to keep background the same in all letter images...really makes the "letters" pop out at me. Really cool idea!!

I was sure that everyone would choose #1....shows how much I know!

    Thanks everyone for your feedback.

Here is an updated version of the multi-utensil image.

I'd be happy to hear your nits. I have plenty of time to rework this.

I like them both. I think it's pretty cool that you were able to get all the letters from one object in #1. Maybe it would be more appealing with a different BG color? It's a toss up for me. It's a great idea, and time is on your sidemwink.gif

Thanks for the input. I'm still working on it.

ic4u- I did reshoot the corkscrew in many positions. My goal is to spell corkscrew. I'll see what that one looks like.

I like #3 better. I like the black frame with the black in the utensils. The only thing that bothers me, but is very nit-picky, is the slightly different background colors. It might work if it alternated or was consistent in some way, but again, that's being very finicky.

I love #2, but I'd like to see more consistent lighting/shadow on the yellow background from frame to frame. The variation detracts for me.

If you can't get it totally consistent, maybe a different color in each frame's bg would be easier.

Mark and andMan, I was trying to get a slightly different tone in each frame. Since I have a week left, I'll try to see what it looks like with the backgrounds all matching.

    Thanks for offering your opinion!

Here is the latest update. I uploaded this one into the gallery. It has the single hue background that several of you suggested. The bckgrd is actually a photo of yellow construction paper. I cut my images and pasted them onto the backgrd. Not sure how else to smooth out the bkgrd.

This is the compilation of all of your suggestions, which I think made it a better image.

    Thanks..... Chris

    Thanks Will.

As it turns out, this entry won't fly. The process Iused is beyond "basic", so I'll work on it from scratch again!

However, I learned a ton of new stuff in PS... so I don't mind.

Can you just photo them all at once on the construction paper? At least one entry only has one EXIF. I believe Sean said that was also fine? Hmmm...None-the-less, a FUN shot and will make a super print to hang on your kitchen wall :)

While I like the yellow, I understand how difficult it is to get the same shade in each photo! Can you use a different color for each utensil/photo--maybe all primary colors? That might look pretty cool.

So, I reworked the backgrounds using levels, brightness and contrast and hue. They aren't perfectly matched...BUT they are very close!! It would be fishy if they matched perfectly, given the rules as I now understand them.

I learned a lot and now have new tools under my PS belt!

    Thanks everyone!!
