Mule Deer- Example of why should have your camera with you at all times!
I was fortunate enough tonight to have my camera with me when my wife and I were coming back from dinner at Lake Tahoe. We spotted 2 mule deer near the road. Fortunately they didn't take off running when we stopped and madly grabbed the camera and tripod

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Hmm maybe it is not the camera, but the guy holding it .

Some times I get lucky and when that happens I show the results here: http://www.xo-studios.com
A Kodak POTD for sure!
If I stopped the car and opened the door (darn, the tripod is home) believe me those deer would have bolted!
That first one is just absolutely great!

I never actually opened the car door. I climbed out the drivers window, set up the tripod on the top of the car and then took the shots. I think thats why the deer didn't take off. They didn't see me as a threat since I never left the vehicle. I'm sure it would have made a good action shot with me hanging out the window draped over the top of the car :yikes

I can't even imagine that! Climbing out the window! But I guess that's the trick, not to open the door. My moon roof opens, so I'll remember that if I'm ever in a situation like that, open the roof, stand on the seat and put the camera on the roof (instant tripod)!
Thanks for the explanation...
