OK, Here's my 'Stones' picture with a few letters swapped out. The biggest complaint before was the 'S', which while very pretty, did not stand out.

Below is my next shot at a 'S', along with some different takes on the 'T' and 'O'. Let me know which letter changes you like better, or not so much!

Thanks again!

1) Here is the original picture for reference:

2) I tried a couple different 'S' ideas using straight lines, and here is the one that worked out best I think. I also swapped in a totally different 'T' and an improved? 'E'.

3) And here is yet another 'T' and a different take on 'O'.

My opinion, for what it's worth...

Your new 's' is more obviously an 's' than the original, but the original has more character.

I can't decide if I like your original 'T' better than the second 'T' or not. There's something about that green tint on the second's stones that I really like. I don't like the reflections in the side windows though. To me, they detract from the 't'.

I like the original 'o' better than the new one.

I like the new 'E' better than the original.

I really like your idea. Your word will look great no matter which version of your letters you finally go with.

I love this series, without even reading the text and the eye going right to the photos the word "stone" was obivious and jumped right out, well done! Great color and texutre..well thought out.

    I agree--this is a great series. I like the S in #1, T and the O in #3.

I'm not sure on the S. The second is definitely more obvious, but it's also a little plain compared to the rest of the letters. I think I like the new E, but otherwise I'd probably stick with everything from #1. I really like how the letters portion of all five shots are a similar color. The other versions seem a little mismashed with all the other colors thrown in.

Seriously.. take your "E" and flip it upside down!! It looks way better with my laptop upside down haha. It looks like a backwards "E" to me in its current orientation! Good job though on the whole series!!

I don't like the 'reflections' either. What you are seeing is actually inside the building and the windows on the other side. I'm going to see if I can get a sky refelction at a different time of day, which would be cleaner.

Right on the money about the 'S'. No clear winner here ne_nau.gif
Good thought about keeping the colors consistant.

Thanks for all your thoughts and support!

15524779-Ti.gif Although the "S" is more defined in #3, I don't think it really has as much character as the rest of the letters.

    I like the T in #3, the O in #1 or 2.
The first S is cool, I definitley think it has more character, but I really like the way the second go-around book-ends the other letters with that granite color.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate all the feedback! I think the second one is the way to go as well. I shot another 'T' like that one yesterday morning paying more attention to light in/on the glass, it should be much cleaner.

After the contest I'll probably play with seeing if I can highlight the ornate 'S' more for a different version, but that would break the processing rules for this challenge so I'll stick with the plain but stong 'S'.

    Thanks so much!
