Here's a few of my latest shots to be processed...posted them in the refinery by mistake (only one shot per thread in there!)
What do you think of the shots?
1. Made by twirling a couple of layers...it was originally a rose...
2. The same thing - might use it as my avatar...
3. Erm...a cow.
4. My daughter - tried to make it look old - I know the dimensions are not right for an old poloroid, but what do you think to the PP?
5. A false facade in a hilside - called an "Eye Catcher" - tried a sort of "Gothic" feel. Did it work?
Cheers

Hi,
A quick tutorial on how to create a picture like the twirling rose...well, here goes...
I'm using CS4...
I started with this picture...
1. adjust the colours to make them stand out a little more...I used Mezzotint on this, long lines...
2. Radial blur - I used 100%, zoom, best quality,...I did it twice...
3. Twirl in the distort menu...I did 50 degrees to the right...
4. Duplicate layer...
5. Twist the new layer THE OTHER WAY...
6. Change the blending options in the layer palate - Lighten is usually the best, although difference creates some nice things, too.
Here's the finished article...Not as good as the original, but you get the idea - different twists, different colouring, etc. will make a difference...
Here's another I did for my camera club...I used some filled shapes on a textured background, then did the twirly stuff...
Hope that helps
Thank you, and thanks for honest critique on the last couple, too.
As you say, it is about amusement, however, There is a place for aging - you only have to look around you whe you go down to the pub (in the UK, anyway) where a "retro" feel is often to be seen. It also serves to test my PP skills.

Having a look at the tutorial is nice and the effect is way cool for
minimal effort. Reversing the twirl is effective. Kind of a fractal feel.
The retro works well for me save for perhaps a bit bright in the middle
to down. I might have gone with a little higher contrast to the area of
the eyes at least but thats strictly personal opinion.
No getting gothic feel really out of "eye catcher". Neat pic though.
