I'm really liking your night time photography.
The converstion is just great too.
Liz, night shots are sort of a necessity for me as my day job keeps me off the streets when the sun is shining. Even when I do get out with full daylight, you'd be amazed at how much deep shade there is in the parts of Shanghai I walk around. I pretty much work at high-iso, wide-open and slow shutter most of the time. In fact, I'm uncomfortable at the other end of the spectrum.
cool shot. took me a moment to figure out what I was looking at. almost looks like split-screen trick photography
2 little nits - cap shadow on his face and snipped tires but otherwise, fun
The split screen vibe hit me too. It's a shot at a corner that I cross almost everyday and I'd stopped even looking at it. I think it was in warm up shot for the evening and I just lifted and clicked when I saw him cycling past.
I'll go back and play with the shadow from his cap. But fwiw I decided to go with deep contrast around his face as it offset another aspect of the image and I felt, at the time, that it added a little more drama. I'm not concerned about the clipped wheels as they aren't a part of the central comp.
