I'm shooting a model next week who wants to do a "teary eyed" look.

Any suggestions on how to get that effect without actually getting her to cry?

Thanks.

I can send you a pair of my socks. If not that, then you can always use artificial tears. Just drop them in right before taking the shots.

I witnessed the artificial tears in a bottle trick years ago on a pro video shoot, I imagine it is still done the same way, plus it doesn't turn the eyes red like real tears etc.

Might want to tell her to come in with some mascara too (black stuff that goes on the eye lashes .... thumb.gif), that + some water should do it .....

Yeah the artificial tears will work. :)

I have seasonal allergies so i use Visine sometimes... one time i had just finished applying it when my friend came over and saw my "tears" and was worried i was crying because something bad happened to me ;)

I know you shouldn't have to tell her, but make sure it's not the waterproof kind. Duh, shouldn't have to, but if you don't, she might just pick up whatever she has and bring it. A little direction never hurts.
Remember, no one may want you to take pictures, but they all want to see them.
