Question on LINKs...

Hello everyone,

I did a search, but was unable to find a clear answer. I'm customizing my page (I just got it yesterday) and I want to include Links under the header to connect to 'Home' 'Pricing' 'Contact' etc.
I've viewed the source of pages that have this, but they all point to pages they have or have created.
Is there a way in smugmug to create these pages that will be linked to? Not really sure how to go about this.
Not looking for buttons or anything, just the 'text' links and how to code where I want to go.
Thanks so much..
Regards,
Kevin

    Hi Kevin :)

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but take a look at my page and see. I've got links under "Prints & Gifts" that go directly to the Smugmug pages for that information. I may be totally missing what you want here, but thought I'd try anyway :)

    Yes, but...

    Hi,

Thanks for responding! That is exactly what I'm looking for, but I'm still not sure how to do this. For instance, currently my 'Bio' appears on my Main (home) page. How do I put it on it's own page, and link to it? How do I create any other pages, such as 'contact' info, and link to it? I guess I could figure out the links (urls( but I'm confused about creating those pages in smugmug. They are not galleries, are they, and that's the only thing I see to create?
    Thanks again,
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin :)

When you are logged in, you can remove the Bio from the home page (there is a link to do that to the right of the Bio). I have hidden the galleries on the home page. I've also created one main category and then sub-categories under that. Then I just link to the galleries in my header.

My links are created in my header (control panel - customization).

My "Contact," "Prints & Gifts", etc., are all private galleries. You can make those galleries without pictures in them by placing the following code in the description of each gallery and forcing the style to All Thumbs:
    <style type="text/css"> .nophotos { display: none; } .opening { display: none; } img[width="84"][height="100"] { display: none; }</style>

I hope some of this makes sense. You can right click on my page and view source to get most of the info. If you have questions, just holler :)

    Thanks Barb,

I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I'll give it a go this afternoon and see what I come up with. Right now I have the links in my header but they actually navigate to someone elses pages since I copied them from someone's home page. Do you lose a level of sub-category by doing this? Right now, we have category/sub-category/gallery/images.
BTW, I looked at your site and it's awesome - very easy to navigate and beautiful images.
Here's a link to what I'm working on - don't really have images loaded yet - I'm concentrating in the look and navigation first.
    Thanks.
    Kevin

UPDATE - Thanks again Barb - I tried creating a hidden gallery like you said and I was successful. Also, I understand that the category you create those hidden galleries under don't really use up a level, right?
But one more question - when I click on the link and go to that hidden gallery (while I'm logged on) how to I enter content for that gallery, such as e-mail info, or bio info?
Sorry for so many questions, thanks again.

    Hi Kevin :)

Yeah, you do lose a level by doing it the way I have it. I'd love for there to be one more level, but at this point, there is not. There has been some discussion about it on these boards, but I honestly do not remember which direction Smugmug was headed.

Thank you so much :) And I really like what you have done to yours already! Love the color choices. And I think your header is wonderful. Snaps out at you when you open your page. Terrific!

My main category is called "Photos and More." Under that, I created a sub-category called "Information." Inside "Information," I created private galleries for each of my links, i.e., Prints & Gifts, Communities, etc.

Keep up the great work - it's looking really nice :)
