Its spring time & its all happening around here. For 3 weeks i have been closed in but its all over.

My mornings walk not far from my place.

Click on link to listen to them

Magpie with a very odd look on his face

32846545-M.jpg

Kookaburra...he didnt hang around for more light to hit him. These guys eat anything that crawls..hops or slithers. A snakes worst enemy.

32846730-M.jpg

Some wattle blooms

32846914-M.jpg

A noisey miner

32847077-M.jpg

A sepia devil duck in sepia cause it looks even worse in colour.

32846381-M.jpg

A wallaby (we called them red shouldered or pretty faced wallabys as kids)

God i argue with the 400 f/5.6 !!! It is just so accurate. It kept locking onto the blades of grass in front of him !

32846332-M.jpg

Millions of Rainbow Lorikeets in every tree

32847328-M.jpg

32847476-M.jpg

Very hard to get BIF !! They dont take off..they explode without any warning in any direction.

Best i could get.

As you were.

Ahhhhhh spring, lovely shots Gus. I love your Lorikeets. There have been alot of Crimson and Eastern Rosellas around here lately but none when i have my camera with meumph.gif

It's still cold down here though. Your magpie looks scary...I'm afraid of those birds this time of year:uhoh. Looks like you are having a fantastic time with that lens! Keep it upthumb.gif

Very good shots Gus. thumb.gif The Kookaburra shot is really outstanding. You handled a very difficult exposure well and captured lots od detail in the shot. clap.gif

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Tks all..G they are about 18" from tip to tip but stand about 12" high. They dont kill the big snakes but you sometimes see them sitting with small ones in their beaks. They are quite a powerfull bird with a big heavy beak. They grab the snakes behind the head & beat them to death on a tree branch.

This one even tried to get a rubber snake.

Or I would be if I wasn't home already. They're great esp the pretty face and the last lorikeet acting like a galah. If it ever stops raining I'll go and look for a lyrebird, we hear them sometimes, but don't see them very often. No moon again tonight either.

It would seem I need the proper player to hear this sound clip. However as far as the sound our Magpies make, well,it's a very harsh screech like call. Not very nice at all. That is a wonderful close-up...Mike

No lyre birds around here Possum. Possibly the best 0z bird to try & photograph. Im looking for a bowerbird. If anything blue or shiny ever went mising from our farm you could bet the bowerbirds stole it for nest decorations.
