New host, new visitor tastes?

Hi. This is a question for any of you SmugMuggers who came here from Zenfolio or some other hosting service. When I had my site on Zenfolio, several pictures (that I still display) were very popular, some even were at the top of their galleries in terms of hit count.:D But when I moved to SmugMug, alas, most of them get no hits at all. :cry Could tastes be THAT different across communities? Have any of you experienced this?

I've done my best to weed out weak work in my galleries, but some of these hitless images I consider among my best. 'Tis a puzzlement.:scratch
They have been up for about a month. I've been advised to be patient and not delete them yet...

Happy shooting...

Have you done anything to drive viewers to your site? Some ideas at http://www.smugmug.com/help/search-engines.

Do you have a blog that pulls photos from you site plus clicks back to your galleries?

You have a link to your galleries if I take the time to look at your profile on dgrin, but that means that people have to go look for that link. I'd recommend adding it to your signature too. Click You!, then Edit Signature.

You might consider posting some photos in the shots forums if you haven't already done that.

Thanks Denise, I am new to this thing, but I'll definitely add the link to my signature. Never thought of that - migrated from Zen and trying to learn the new ways here. I posted one image a few days ago, and do plan to post more. Don't have a blog yet, I don't know how I'd start one without it looking like spam - will have to research that. I'll also check your link for more info on promotion. Would definitely like to get more traffic.

I might also move photos to other more relevant galleries to get them seen better. For example, the Watch Hill photo

    http://gonyeagalleries.smugmug.com/Nautical-Lighthouses/Nautical/12301807_DkD54#878017892_sKi3P

might be more properly classified as a "sky" or "sunset" picture (rather than "Nautical") and be moved into a sky gallery.

Anyway, I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my concerns.

    Best Wishes,
    Art

    Art -
Using a blog to highlight photos should not look like spam.

I use blogger, and I have matched the look of my blog to my smugmug site. Info on matching the sites in this thread - HOW TO match your blog to your smug site (blogger-specific). Matching the look of the two sites absolutely isn't needed. What is needed is to post on a regular basis.
