Nice work!

I like the slide better than the red L - it is more playful. The red L is more defined and has fewer distractions, but I still like the slide better. One drawback to the slide is that it makes the other letters smaller.

I like the red P better than the blue P - less BG distraction.

I agree up to a point.
For me whilst the red P has less background distractions the blue P is so clearly defined I don't notice the background distractions as I don't have to look for the letter.
