#52 JWear
I want to thank you that made comments on my entree. I am making this post to make sure there is no misunterstanding.I am a nature photo guy, I would never carve or burn all those are as I found them. To be honest I went to shoot a poppy that maybe would give me letters but even if I was on drugs there would be no letter in the poppy. The first J i used I PS the left top part until someone told me find another J. The j I did use if you look was up the tree surrounded my poison ivy. I at first did not use that J because it was too dam good and I thought it may be carved. I went back a second time and it is not.
Exposer it is not underexposed The exposer if not dark then I would have no W [funny that was the hardest to find] and with my subject oak, dark is how I see it.
I did not think about it [was looking way to hard] but woodpecker ---a family of six live here and while I was shooting the J 2 came in and out when they saw me. After you made the comment I know they had a little too do with it.
Again thank you all, making the finals is a very nice thing but getting the great comments is worth more than making into voting. I was very proud of this round I would have just spelled jwear with feathers on a board but finding these was 4 hours outdoors doing what I love to do. So not making it to the voting round I still win rofl
Besides thanking you all for the comments that were made to my own images, I really commend all of you for running with what I think this theme was about, which was really an exercise in looking for things right before our eyes and seeing them newly. Great job to all of you..
Jeff - I hope you weren't offended by my comment (since I think it was me who asked if you had carved or scorched them into the trees). I was 99% sure you'd found them (knowing that you're a nature 'tog) but, as I said, to SEE those in the bark just blows me away! All I can say is .. wow
I might add that this round seems to have brought out the graphic designers in many of us, which is a nice departure from our regular rounds. When I put mine up early, and after seeing a lot of the entries, I contemplated going back and putting some fancy frames around them, etc... I just left it like that, as I really couldn't imagine how to do that in a creative way. I commend you who were able to do it successfully!
I just want to thank everyone who commented on my pic. I didnt get to spend as much thought or time as I wanted due to family health issues, so I totally accept the comments regarding the lighting. It was lit by a 580EX on the right of the camera and a little fill was provided via the pop-up flash on my 7d. ( I really love the wireless ettl triggering with the 7d ) The 580 was only 4-5 inches away from the sweets. Thinking about it I should have bumped up the ratio on the fill to reduce the shadows.
The idea that I had originally ( and one that I would like to do sometime ) was to make the word "Time" out of letters made with people, then have the "Time" framed by a glass bottle ( kinda like a ship in a bottle ) with a lovely background scene ( like a seaside scene ) behind. I could just see all the elements, and I could see just how I could shoot it, and then I asked about the use of layers and found out what "basic" editing includes ( and excludes ).
Anyway, I hope to shoot that idea one day.
Well done everyone on the last challenge, and I am really looking forward to all that the Mega-challenge-entrants produce for it.
