Multiple Photographers Uploading question

Greetings! Ok so for this particular query, I am needing assistance figuring out whether or not the following format will work for when several photographers are submitting work.

What I am hoping to accomplish is having several dozen photographers submit their work using a single smugmug account as a virtual FTP server essentially yet each having their own private guest upload link and individual password to protect their work from everyone else (except the admin of the account).

The end goal is that one of my friends is creating a web-based online magazine and unfortunately, getting photographers to submit work via email can be tedious and time consuming for him. What he is hoping to accomplish is having each photographer have their own private gallery link to upload their work as a guest. This would make it easier for the admin to keep track of everyone's work without having to search through multiple emails etc.

Is this something that can be accomplished? Did any of this make sense? Am I just asking the impossible? Stay tuned to the next episode of SOAP
