Furry friends

We spent the weekend in the mountains. Since we were traveling light I only took along my 50mm lens. Had many regrets later as the scenery & wildlife was spectacular, but after hiking around at 8200 feet, I was thankful for just this one lens. These little guys were so friendly and very curious of my camera.....and of course they wanted a snack.

Nice colours and use of differential-focus…

…just a little bit of straightening would make it almost like Mary Poppins¹

Welcome to the Wildlife Forum Stella wave.gif

He does look cute grawing away at his cracker.

This all a ruse to conceal a much darker character. Squirrels are often rabid, carry disease and have been known to attack poor innocent school children. In Russia during winter packs of squirrels have killed and eaten helpless household pets.

Nevertheless its a good pic and I look forward to seeing more of your non-squirrel work in the near future.

Thanks for the very nice feedback!! I'm a beginner and a wee bit intimidated to share on a forum that's filled with such awesome talent!

Harry, I had no idea squirrels & chipmunks carried diseases!! We have tons of them around our house and we feed them regularly!! Now this makes me wonder if these cute little critters are more of a danger than I ever imagined.

    Are you serious?????

I copied and pasted this from the Centers For Disesase Control regarding squirrels and rabies:

Small mammals such as squirrels, rats, mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, chipmunks, rabbits, and hares are almost never found to be infected with rabies and have not been known to cause rabies among humans in the United States. Bites by these animals are usually not considered a risk of rabies unless the animal was sick or behaving in any unusual manner and rabies is widespread in your area.

It is a well known fact that squirrels are the spawn of satan.

Yes, I am kidding. My dislike for squirrels has been a running joke here for a few years now.

I also dislike puppy dogs and kitty cats. I'm not too fond of cute, furry bunnies also.

I am fond of sharks however
