IE8 + Slideshow = Not good

I have seen this on a few computers for this gallery, http://www.paintbypixels.com/Galleries/Sunburns-Sometime-Pay-Off/12207346_D6yw6#869195757_yERrY

I use IE8 32Bit version on Windows 7 64-Bit. When I click on slideshow it does start it, but the Windows taskbar is still below and the IE windows still shows. In the past my whole screen would be taken over, not showing anything else.

Anyone know why this is? Do I need to add a customization to my galleries? Perhaps some new CSS code? I have the latest Flash player but I've seen this on other systems so something is amiss...

Can't really offer any help since I don't know why it is doing it, but I can confirm that it does it on my IE8, Win7 64-bit machine as well. In Chrome, though, it goes fullscreen as expected.

I can also confirm that it isn't just your site that does this; but mine does as well when viewed in IE8. I suspect there might be something going on between IE, Flash, and some security settings possibly (since the new window displays the web address), but other flash sites like Hulu can go fullscreen without problem, so that can't be the full story. Hopefully someone will have an idea...

This is normal for IE (which is not as good as other, more modern browsers in the way it handles full screen stuff) so we open the FS Slideshow in a new window that takes up the full screen.

Been this way since we launched the FSSS a long time ago.

IE is losing browser share at a fast rate. We are compliant, and will be in the future, with IE versions. We still even support IE6 as well, for visitors.

But use a modern browser - Firefox, Safari, and you'll be much happier.

IE6? Oh, the bane of every web developer's existence... I never, ever want to go back. IE8 is a big improvement over IE6, but still glitchy, and in every single design, I'll have one or two things that don't work quite right (according to the standards), and it always takes some ridiculous work-around to make things work. (In fact, even though SM supports IE6, I've given up. No support from my site for IE6.)

Personally, I've been switching around from Firefox to Safari to Chorme to Opera and back again (I'm never completely happy with any browser. I'm picky, I guess), but only go into IE if a site absolutely requires it or to double-check one of my designs. IE9 looks promising, but I'll stay away, personally.
