I ams eeing some strange artifacts that are either due to sharpening, or maybe it is a really old picture. Take a look at the viewer right edge of the white shirt, it has a halo, and some other strange artifacts, around the edge of the eyes, teh hair, not sure what I am looking at or what would cause that.

yeah, i see them too-i think i's from sharpening, though I used a great sharpening tool on the Gimp: "smart-sharpening"; this head shot is a very small percentage of the original. Probably best, if I want to print this - to re-scan the neg at a higher value, then I won't have to sharpen the crop but a bit.
