I had a wonderful opportunity last month to hop around Italy for a couple weeks, roaming Rome on my own before meeting up with David duChemin and Jeffrey Chapman plus a small group of other photographers to wander up through Cinque Terre and Venice.

I'm still culling, and I hope to have a full Journeys thread at some point, but for now, a couple highlights because I'm missing it. Especially after I received a large canvas of my Vernazza image yesterday. I want to go back!

1. View from my hotel window in Rome. *sigh*

2. Fisheye inside the Colosseum

3. One of my favorite memories: last night in Rome, pouring rain, standing in the street in the bus lane, and trying to keep dry.

4. Genova

5. Vernazza

Thanks for stopping by! :thumb

Thanks, all! I had a blast, especially with the fisheye. rpcrowe, I'm glad you found a fisheye shot you could enjoy. thumb.gif

Art, I used a Nikkor 16mm fish on my D700. I love the 16 + full-frame combo, and it was the perfect balm when I was feeling creatively frustrated. It's hard not to have fun when you look at the world again through a fisheye. :D

Vernazza is one of my favorite spots on the planet. Went there for the first time about 22 years ago, then took my wife back for our honeymoon 8 years ago. Thanks for taking me back again. Nice series.

Slightly OT: I just saw on the show International House Hunters that rent for a 2-BR place in Rome can run you $7500 USD per month! Cue heart attack.
