as you can see the red eye works a lot harder --so how can he be a sub-species.?

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks for the kind comments That east coast Glen called my poor spotted towhee a sub-species. I think they have the eastern and we have the spotted and the california towhee [brown towhee] .There are 3 more but I have not seen them as yet. The spotted is harder to shoot [hides all the time] and the brown will come over and reset your WB for you ,way to easy to shoot :D Steve knows it is a spotted he has seen a few .Action shots are what I love to get and this is the best time for shots like this they fill up the bill and back to the nest

The spotted towhee is its own species. On the east coast there are two sub-species of "eastern towhee", One with red-eyes like your spotted towhee, and one with white eyes like my photo.

I should be in your neck of the woods in a couple of weeks!
