This was taken in Gilbert Arizona at the Water Ranch Wildlife Preserve. I have never seen a bird like this in Arizona. Do any of you know what it is:dunno Thanks
Nice shots again, Dan. Escaped parrots and their variations have done pretty well in the warmer climes of the US and even up to San Francisco. Interesting video available entitled "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill" about the SF flock.
There's also a large flock of Amazon parrots in Pasadena, CA.

Looks like a lorikeet to me. It must have escaped from somewhere. Good captures.

Have been to the gilbert raparian many times have gotten several shots of the these guys - even seen them on a golf course I play in Mesa - they have set up several colonies around the valley - they are so cute
they are the Peach faced lovebirds - every once and a while there is a story in the Phoenix paper about them - they have been here a long time- great shots bTW

Here in so cal we have I think 4 breeds [parrots & parakeets] that are live here now but this one I have not seen. I go along with your ID tho.The story goes that years ago in Pasadena a pet store had a fire and they let the birds go and now the red-crowned and lilac-crowned live and breed together
Very pretty bird! Good set Dan The lorikeets we have here in Aus that have been released/escaped (Rainbow lorikeets that I often post pictures of) have totally displaced the local varieties. Similar thing happening there?

It's a peach faced love bird. Apparently they escape from there owners and adapt well in the desert.

They are peach faced lovebirds from Africa that have escaped. They are mating and surviving throughout AZ.barb
