This bird is one of the hardest birds to get close to, and last weekend there had been 3 of them spotted by us, one took off and the other 2 had been going back and forth on us all morning. Managed to capture this guy taking a break.

:nah Nope...it is THE hardest! :D

Excellent image and catch, Dennis. clap.gif

One early morn, I was just leaving a wooded area heading out to the dike at Sprague's Flow at Necedah NWR and there sat a Kingfisher...perfectly perched for what seemed like forever. By the time I stopped the car ever so slowly...fumbled for an early light setting and raised the camera...he took off!

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thank you very much Ira for the comments and kind words as well. I seem to be lucky this year with these birds, but oh so hard to capture most other times...

That is the way it is most times with these birds, they just see you move and they are gone in a heart beat. I have that happen to me so many times in the past, you see them close to you in a tree and move ever so slow and before you know it they are out of there chattering as they go.

They are sure a big challege.

I know the feeling they are one of the hardest birds to capture and when they are close you make a sudden move and they are gone. I just kept trying all the time and that is all that you can do. You will capture them faster then you think, and thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the comments and yes I would say he was as well, until the shutter started going, and he heard the noise and took right off.
