Maximum number of photos in a gallery?

Is there a limit to the number of photos that I can upload to a single gallery?

I don't see anything about such a restriction in the help, nor could I find a mention of it on these forums or via google, so hopefully there isn't a limit. Thanks!

If the gallery is intended for viewing by a person then you should consider the viewer experience. Very large galleries can be overwhelming to some visitors.

There is... we recently changed it from unlimited to 5,000 photos per gallery - for performance reasons on our end and yours!

Hmm, the limit is not a problem for my personal galleries but that may throw a wrench in my plans for an app I'm building on the SmugMug API. I guess I'll have to figure out some workaround later (perhaps linking between galleries using some JS-generated links).

How does this work with keyword searches that might match >5,000 photos?

Also, it might be helpful to include this limitation in the help text and/or mention it on the release notes blog.
