Need help choosing one...

This is my oldest son who leaves next Wednesday on his 2-year LDS mission. He's going to Ecuador. For the next two years there will be a plaque hanging in our church building with his picture on it.

I took these 3 tonight. Which one do you think I should use for the plaque? A valid answer is none of them - try again. Also, any advice on how to make the one you choose better? I know the white balance is all over the place on these...:scratch

Of these, I'd go for #1. It makes him come off as being approachable AND it's a very nice portrait. My only nit is the lack of modeling, but that's me.

    2 is too stiff.
3 he seems a bit concerned, confused, bewildered,,, or something... And the jacket isn't lying nicely.

Which one are you leaning towards?

1 or 2...1 needs the hand cropped out ....
other than that on my monitor they look good the whites are very white
and that is good.......good luck to him and hope he doesn't encounter the cannibals
of the continent....or a group of money hungry guerrillas ..........

Thanks D'Buggs, Art, and Andrew. I appreciate the feedback. My vote is also #1 (with the hand-cropped out). What is funny is that this one is from when he had both arms folded across his chest and looked unapproachable from the crop down.

    I definitely prefer #1 overall...
When I was younger my friend went on a mission (as we called it back then) to Argentina and when he returned he spoke fluent Spanish.
Kinda wish I would have gone on one too.
    Best of to your son.....

Good luck to your son on his mission! Being a convert I was not able to go so I love to hear others stories. I vote for #1 for sure....especially with the new crop.

Both he and his sister are in Ecuador right now. She's doing her junior HS year as a Rotary exchange student. When the both get back, there is going to be a lot of spanish in our house.

#1 is hanging on the wall at the church building. He's in his 2nd city now. Hard to believe that is is already 1/4 of the way done. We talked to him on Christmas Eve and he sounded great.
