Hello,

here is my first portrait which I have taken on the UK coast - Skegness. The weather was bad and the wind was cold. I have used one Bowens Strobe on the right side of the subject with a Bowens Beauty Dish on it. Comments are very very welcome.

    A bit (only a tad, though) bright on the subject for me but may just work if you can crank some contrast out of that sky and make the overall look a bit more edgy! :D

    decently done.....have your read Joe McNallys HotShoe Diaries.......very good info on this type of shooting.....
    it is a bit over exposed........if the light had been less it would have looked more natural.......
    Is the client happy......that is really all that counts in the end.....however I have found if I rely strictly on
    what clients think I would not progress ahead as a photog.......it seems they don't really know squat :-}}

    Nice job. I agree with the others -- a little less power on the strobe would be nice to balance it more with the background. Also, to get a little more natural nose shadow, you might consider raising your key light just a bit. It's a tricky balance to maintain catchlights and still get that shadow looking right though.

    Thank you! I shall take some flash from the face - it is a RAW file.
