8 mm Fun

I went to the Woodies on the Warf event today on the Santa Cruz warf where I met our April there and she lent me her 8 mm fish eye to try out. I should have removed the hood :cry but all I was trying accomplish was to see how it worked so I just shot at random.

In the first image the dog could have licked the lens if he stuck his tong out!

This thing is unbelievably wide. I had to be careful or I would have my back in the image! What fun.................:clap

In this shot look at the bottom of the image. Those are my feet!! I am only inches in front of the car!!!

Yeah, circular fisheyes are wild. I rarely use mine (a Peleng 8mm for Canon EF mount), but when I do, I am always careful to keep my feet and knees out of the frame. It's not always easy, and nigh impossible if your desired viewpoint and framing necessarily requires the camera to be tilted downward.

Despite the visible photographer feet, I like the composition on the car shot. You've got that circular hood ornament almost perfectly centered, and it was a stroke of luck to have two cars with wooden doors to either side, adding to the symmetry.

Actually not any luck at all to get two cars with wood on the side. This was Woodies on the Warf, all cars had wood on the side.
