Built-In Flash Damaged

The other day, I was being attacked by a swarm of bees and I forgot that I had a Nikon D60 in my hands. As I frantically flailed my arms, I accidentally dropped (but my friend described it as "hurled") the camera onto the stone patio. After getting the camera back, I realized that the flash did not work. Also, when I dropped the camera, the flash was popped up. In addition it's clear for various reasons that the device that senses whether or not the flash is up or not is broken. Can anyone give me any advice on how to fix the flash? I have to take the camera to another country next saturday. Thanks.

That is a send back to factory repair center to get that fixed.....I am sure.
    sorry for the bad news.

If the flash will return to it's normal position but not stay down, you might temporarily fix it by taping it down with some Gaffer's tape until you can return it for repair.

I'd be more concerned with the rest of the camera working--autofocus for the lens that was on it, metering and so forth.

If I attach an external flash, such as the SB-400, would the external flash work even though the built-in flash doesn't? Also, the mechanism that holds down the built-in flash still works. Thanks.

depends on how the flash is broken. It might work.
