Japanese Beetles have invaded

My parents flipped when they saw this -- they have spent fortune trying to get rid of the Japanese Beetles and thought they had 'em licked.

Me? I was just trying to take pics of flowers. The Pentax 35mm f2.8 macro is useless for taking pictures of bugs and insects, due to the focal length. :dunno

    Good capture :)

Assume the comment re using it on bugs is because of the short focus distance ?

wished the DOF was a little bit bigger (beetle is partly OOF) but the flower and the colours are hypnotising! :D

Yes. At the point where I get close to 1:1 I've essentially created a bug jar out of my lens. Since hunting bugs isn't the primary reason I got the lens -- it's an amazing walk-around lens that just happens to let you get up real close-- it's not a big deal.

I was just surprised I was able to get as close to a bug as I did.
