Spokane Hoopfest 2010

Spokane, Washington hosts one of the most amazing basketball events in the country, Hoopfest. 3 on 3 basketball played on the half court, back to back over the entire downtown of Spokane for 2 days. All in all, a fantastic weekend of basketball. If you ever have a chance to come and visit Spokane,this is a great weekend to do it! Here are a few images from this weekends event.



A Canon body attached to a Magic Arm and an Auto Pole, triggered by remote. This allowed me to gain a "Above the Rim" shot that we wanted for a change of pace. The original plan was to use a standard back board set up, but there was only two glass backboards out of the thousands in town.

Great shots Gary!! I have never gone down to HoopFest, although it sounds like a lot of fun. At least you were the one shooting with a camera this year;).

A Bogen Auto Pole, with a Super Clamp attached to one end and a Magic Arm attached to that. A Canon 40D with a 15mm on it, fired by a remote that I handheld. I padded the whole contraption with an extra mono pad cover I had floating around, as I knew it was going to get heavy...

It allowed me to get above the rim shots for every playing bracket at the event, in a very small amount of time, which was key, as I had other commitments at the CDA Ironman the same weekend.

..yea, a little drama down there Saturday, but don't let that dissuade ya. That type of stuff happens everywhere, could have been at the opera. Make a point of getting to it one of these years, it is an amazing event.
