Too many choices

Is there any way we can remove all the default choices for category names? I don't need any suggestions, I already know how I want my site to be built. So say I put something in portraits and then the next time I forget it's in portraits and so I put it under people just because it's there in the list? I find myself doing this all the time then I need to go back through all my galleries to make sure that I have them condensed. It's one of my biggest annoyances about smugmug.
