This is a blast from the past question.
The Sunpak 611 used to be a great powerhouse "potato masher" type flash, used by lots of professionals through the years.
I am looking for an economical flash to use for portable light in a slaved remote application.
Does anyone have any experience with these flashes that could lend an experienced opinion on their use?
Specifically:
Recycle time, too long without an external, hi-voltage battery pack?
Consistant output?
General durability?
Quality of light?
Light spread or pattern?
GN160, truth or ...?
Thanks,
ziggy53

I thought I was replying to your need for a slave flash......
Since the post that started this I have purchased 5 - Sunpak 611 flash units so you might say I am a fan of their handle-bracket flashes.

I agree, 611 was a great flash, I had two of them before my 622!!! Do you know they had a filter adapter and filters which you could pick up cheap for those units? I think it was a in a packet, I have the dealer price lists for the 611 and it's accessories (with numbers) and can eMail if you are interested.
