What is the photo for? My first reaction is that you need a little more light in his eyes.

Not sure what it's for, but that is the pose/style he wanted.
I really needed a 2nd flash, but didn't have it on hand.

Even though this may be a "business casual" shot with the golf shirt, I would have considered removing the pen clipped on the front of his shirt.

Was this a paid gig? Do you hold yourself out as a professional? ne_nau.gif

    Laughing.gif @ the pen.
No not paid, just a "Hey, can you take my pic real quick" kinda thing.
As far as portraits, I'm nothing close to a pro. Not at all. :)

What did you use for lighting?

If I'd had a single off-camera flash, then I'd have used the on-camera pop-up flash as a fill-in to remove the shadows from the eye sockets. The picture looks as if it was lit from above, and if that's the case, how did you tilt the flash to bounce it? …and if you were using an off-camera flash bounced, then why not just use the pop-up for fill? (that's assuming you were using your EOS 40D)… headscratch.gif

…but perhaps I've got hold of the wrong end of the stick!

BTW: I'd have straightened him up a bit - as shown he looks as if he's tilted backwards which makes him look a bit "heavy"…
