Photo Ideas For Monterey / Carmel / Big Sur Trip

I'll be in Northern California in 2 weeks and I'm looking for some photo locations to hit. The area I'm least familiar with is Santa Cruz, Monterey, Carmel, and Big Sur

Any suggestions or examples of these areas would be greatly appreciated (along with best time to shoot). Thank you.

Here's a thread on my recent vacation. I drove through those areas so check it out if you want some examples.... When are you going? Right now it's pretty foggy.

    Erich,

Those are some great shots on your thread. That is what I was looking for. I'll actually be in the Bay Area over the long Labor Day weekend.

I've been in SF a few time but never south of the airport so I was looking for ideas between SF and Big Sur.

The fog in your photos is great. I'm glad to here there might be a chance to use it in my photos. Hopefully a little and not too much.

Again, thank you for sharing your shots and ideas.

You will be on the right road
    Adam,
You will be on the right road Highway 1 is the coast highway that connects the places. There are some great views and beaches with easy pull off and no charges.
One of ny favorite places is a small town slightly north of Sata Cruz here is a link.

Most of my galleries were the bay area but north of the city. If you are comming into SFO you may want to stop at the Palo Alto Baylands it is about 15 min south of SFO off 101. If you are into birds it is a little late but the heron and egrets are still nesting.

Unfortunatly it is local secret but there are many more clear days in winter then summer

    Thanks Andy!!
    Andy,

Thank you for the tips/links. There's nothing I hate more than coming back from vacation and finding out I missed some photo opportunities because I didn't do my homework.
