PhotoVu and RSS updates

A few years ago I setup a PhotoVu frame to update from my smugmug site via RSS. It worked great I would add pictures to the gallery and they would show up on the PhotoVU. :clap

A few years have passed by and I had the PhotoVu off line, it still showed the pictures that were pulled via RSS. But I had disabled the wifi on the screen.

Now I turned on the wifi on the PhotoVu and the feeds no longer work. They worked fine a few years ago. I tried to configure new feeds in the exact same way as I did before. They still do not work. :scratch

Is the PhotoVu not supported anymore? :dunno

What feed are you trying to use? Please give a specific link and we'll help.

Hi, that feed is legit and works perfectly in my reader... have you contacted PhotoVu?

It works fine in my reader also. I have not changed anything on the PhotoVu. Software has not been updated or anything.

I believe something change since I configured it on smugmug

For example, when it used to pull the pictures via RSS smugmug did not present the text at the top of the feed as it does now. Nor did it show the sort by, filter or category filters.

Is there a way to parse that stuff out of the feed?

No, there's not, I'm sorry. Email photovu, they should be able to present this feed just find on the frame. Let us know what they say, thanks John.

I'm using a WiFi PhotoVu frame with Smugmug. I'm using it through http://www.framechannel.com/ which collects the feed from Smugmug and then offers it to the frame. FrameChannel is free. I started doing it this way because it was an easy way for the frame to show images from multiple Smugmug accounts (three kids feeding pictures from their own Smugmug accounts into my mom's picture frame). But, it also has the advantage that they make sure the RSS feed is compatible with the various photo frames. My PhotoVu frame directly supports FrameChannel so it was pretty easy to set up. You might give that a try if you have no more options.
