SERIOUSLY silly-ish question. However, I'm not terribly emabarrassed to admit that I haven't jumped into OCF with both feet first, just tip-toed thus far. So, do strobes need to be of the same make/model for the PWs to work properly? In other words (I'm a Nikonian) will I need 2 PWs along with 2 SB-600s/2SB-900s? Or suffice it to say, will a change up among the models work just fine...for example 2 PWs, an SB-600 and an SB-900?

:scratch :huh :rolleyes

Your second choice should be fine.....now have you run out of options with CLS and are you expecting the PW's to ttl......if not then these would be a much cheaper option.....I use this type but my are 16 channel and it seems they are out of them right now.

Don't know if you are considering waiting for the Mini\Flex PWs, they are supposed to be available for Nikon real soon now eek7.gif. I use the Mini\Flex on Canon and mix Canon flash models with no problem.

for example 2 PWs, an SB-600 and an SB-900?

You can generally mix and match lights with any triggers as long as you're not trying to use wireless TTL. I've used a Vivitar 285HV, 430EX II, 580EX II, and B800 together before.
On a scale of 1 to 10, my awesomeness goes all the way to 11.
