The 1st place winners from every round of DSS to date, including the Mega Challenge winners have been compiled into a giant poll.

Each photo can be clicked on to see it larger. Make sure you come back and make your choices after viewing.

This is purely an experiment to test several things :
1. The ability for people to vote for multiple photos. (Vote for all of your favorites!)
2. If a poll larger than 50 entries is manageable or even practical
3. How smoothly a poll like this runs.
4. To see how the community at large responds.

The Top 5 Photos will be announced after the poll results have been compiled. You have 7 days to vote. Vote for as many images as you want but remember if you vote for all of them thats pretty much like not voting at all.

There are no prizes involved other than you get to be proud of your images and awesome accomplishments all over again.

I'm glad you let us pick more than one! I do like being able to choose multiple photos, but (swat me now....) it would be nicer if we could rank them somehow. I think I chose 5 or 6 (could easily have chosen more).

If all these things go well, I hope it encourages you to change the DSS format to something like this...

and also I just wanted to use another cliche.... so hopefully there was no offence in my last post.

Tried to keep it to 5 but ended up with 13. I have to say that I left some really awesome images unchecked. This was a challenge. Hope your experiment works out for you.

- Unfortunately ranking is not a feature that we have as part of the polls. I had to request the number of slots allowed in the poll be upgraded especially for this experiment, that I think is about all we have up our sleeve from what I can see.

So far things seem to be going pretty smooth. At this point there does not seem to be any clear winner but of course it is much to early to tell.

If you want to know more information about any of the images all you have to do is click on it and it opens a new window with a larger view in the winners gallery. Plus my thought is that these images won usually because they are good images with or without the theme that sparked their creation.

I remember many of these from my lurking days (which I finally ended a few months ago!) I would see some of these images in the scroll across the top of the page. I remember thinking about how daunting it would be to actually enter the challenges.

Thanks to all who have helped me take a few strides.

It's awesome to see this collection in one place!

Hope to be back in the challenges soon. We're in the middle packing for a move from eastern Pennsylvania to central Pennsylvania. Movers are coming July 13. We close on our old home July 15 and on the new one on July 16.

Then comes the unpacking....:whew

But I am looking forward to covering some new territory. And I'm also looking forward to meeting Winston (VisualExpressions) since he's in the same area. There's even an active photography club nearby, which looks interesting.

It seems like this came out of the blue. It's out of the routine for this forum. Some may have overlooked it.

I wondered why you were doing this now when it seems like an "end of year" kind of thing. I understand that you were testing an idea, but it still seemed like funny timing.

So, personally, I loved looking at these images and trying to decide why I liked each one and whether it made my top 5 list. Excellent challenge!

also, it's the week of the 4th...lots of vacationers, I imagine.

I hope you continue to throw these curves at us. You are doing a splendid job as moderator.

Yes it probably is the holiday timing. Funny I felt that might have the opposite effect. Either way so far we have a reasonable amount of voters to make is a decent test.

Does anyone think I should extend it for another week? or leave it as 7 days?

At the bottom of the poll just below the last picture it tells you how many voters have voted this is not the total votes because multiple choice is allowing for many more total votes.
