What does the well dressed photographer wear?

I'm curious to know what people wear when out and about: what works best for you when trudging across the tundra, when marching through the marshes, when climbing the cairgorms etc.

In the UK it seems really hard to find a perfect combination of clothing for photography for our changeable weather: so what do people wear and WHY?

Photographers don't dress any different than any other people. ne_nau.gif Just dress for the occasion and grab your suitable packs, belts, or vests if needed.

OK perhaps it needs rephrasing: what do people find to be the most breathable/waterproof/durable combinations?

Our climate here in San Diego probably varies quite a bit from what you've got in the UK, Simonius, but typically I head out in normal cargo shorts and a t-shirt. Then I pack a lightweight pair of windbreaker pants and a light weight sweatshirt along for after sunset. The pants get rolled up tight and since they're just windbreaker material, it's a pretty small bunch and then just shoved into an open spot in my camera bag. My camera bag has a mesh kind of pouch on the outside and the sweatshirt gets stuffed into that.

That's for our current, summer conditions. For winter I typically head out in jeans and a sweatshirt, with another heavier sweatshirt stuffed into the mesh pouch. Nothing real fancy, I'm not concerned too much with how I look out there, as long as I'm comfortable enough to stay out as long as I want without getting cranky!

Nothing special in my closet, so I'm interested to hear what others might be using!

    Thanks for the reply:)

The weather I'm looking to cope with is the kind of weather that makes good landscapes, i.e. between storms etc

Cargo pants, or cargo shorts. Get the ones with the most/largest pockets you can. I'll stuff filters, lenses, all sorts of stuff in them. The pants are usually baggier and less restrictive than jeans as well.

I'm a big fan of Gortex, but if your not into laying out all the loot associated with it I've found Columbia makes a decent enough product that can be a cheaper alternative.

Then again I hate being soaked.
