Hakuba tripod

The question is: I am thinking about buying a Hakuba hg-504 tripod. I can't find out what the height is when the center column is completely retracted. I know it becomes more unstable when extended. Also, are these pretty durable. I just hate to spend the extra money for a Gitzo unless they are really worth it. I am thinking about a RRS bh-40 ball head. Good combo? Seems to be out of stock at bh photo, amazon, etc. Know where I can find one?
Thanks,
Mark

I don't know anything about the tripod, but the one on B&H says it supports only 3.9 lbs, which suggests this is a very lightweight and perhaps, not very sturdy tripod. The RSS 40 is rated for 18 lbs, but will hold far more.
You may want to check out Induro tripods:

Or Feisol:

as alternatives to the much more expensive Gitzo
63" - 12" equals 51"-ish, or maybe just a bit more or less (inclusive of head) for the height with the legs extended but the center column down.
You're right, all of the reputable places I checked seem to have this on back-order.
