Even More Fireworks from La Costa CA

This was my first attempt at shooting fireworks. As a guess, I chose a 5 second exposure at f8 and 100 ISO. I had my 18-135 set at about 35mm. The results could have been better. Next time I'll use a 3 second exposure or more likely use bulb mode to gain more control over my shutter; f11 would seem like a better aperture setting and a wider lens setting would catch more of the action.

But, anyway, here are some results:

I also cropped most shots to the star burst because I misunderestimated (remember Bush?) the background clutter.

Comments are always welcome and appreciated.

Thanks for looking.

You had some great colors in your fireworks. Very nice.

For the first and last shot you posted, I would consider cropping out the tiny lights in the bottom right corner. They don't add to the picture and a tighter cropping would bring the fireworks up a bit larger.

Definitely give bulb mode a try next time. You'll have far more control over how many bursts are in any given photo (you can also blend them together afterwards if you want multiple bursts piled up).
