Finally got some time off of work and remodelling :rolleyes First time I've left the house with camera in hand for months. Visited my favorite eagle haunt to check on how the nesting went this year. Happy to say that every one of the half a dozen nests I had time to stop by were occupied. It was late evening and they were done feeding for the day so no opportunity to capture any BIFs :cry I did capture this mating pair sitting together watching over their nest.

Great shot of a mating pair. I like the way they are looking down the road together.

Thanks for the comments, folks. According the what I've read, female eagles are a bit larger than the males. That suggests the one on the right side of the image is the lady. I reached that conclusion based on the stern look and ruffled feathers. When I pointed that out to my wife, she responded with ruffled feathers and a stern look. Go figure... ne_nau.gif

Excellent capture Dan, well composed. With raptors the female is usually the larger of the pair.

Thanks for the comments, Harry and Ric. You've gotta feel for the poor male raptors. Then again, I've never seen size provide any advantage to human males when it comes to marital relationships...eek7.gif

They look pretty serious. I don't think their kids will be able to slip anything past them.

Based on what I've seen of eagle life, by next season their juvi offspring will be fighting beak and claw with them.
