Builtin Slideshow w/Keywords not working for Vistor

I have set a keyword set for a couple dozen photos that I want to show up on my homepage using the built-in Slideshow. If I am logged in (owner view), the slideshow appears correctly. When I am in visitor view or logged out, it does not. I see the words "initializing" pop up temporarily and then just get a blank, gray box.

To further confuse the issue, if I choose "gallery" for the slideshow source, it works fine -even when I choose one of the galleries that contains images with the keyword I set.

My Hello Smuggers setting is set to Yes, the galleries are public, and not password protected.

Any insight would be appreciated! Have a presentation in the morning and I would prefer this work instead of having to create a gallery just to hold the slideshow picks until I can work this out.

I'm seeing a similar problem with public visitors not being able to see keywords for photos in a gallery that was previously private and then made public. The issue I'm seeing is that the keyword update is going /very/ slow -- at the rate of one picture every ten minutes or more.

Have you seen whether you're hitting keyword indexing slowness or it simply does not render ever?

If you do a keyword search while not logged in, does the picture show up?

I have seen the indexing running slow. SM Support did email me back and we traced my problem to 2 things. First, my keywords were too short and didn't fully conform with their standards. Made them longer, and they started working. Second, they wanted me to set External Links to Yes - I don't like that a lot, since many in the forums say that is not a good thing; it opens your images up to unauthorized downloading.

Make sure the galleries have 'external linking' enabled and the SmugIslands settings to 'yes'. It looks to be the keywords are still indexing. Give them some time to finish indexing and they should show while logged out.

That's exactly my issue
I've actually contacted support and opened a ticket a few hours ago, but I've still not been given a solution or workaround. I'm just unhappy that this is causing us to lose a significant proportion of sales as time ticks away -- potential customers can't find their pictures, and think we didn't take them, whereas in fact they are just not indexed.

(Sorry for hijacking the thread; I opened one for myself at http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=171999 -- but I believe this could be the same issue the OP is having)
